Brian H. Messerly, 66, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 17th at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Peters officiating. Burial will be in Colfax Township Cemetery near Vincent. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Surviving is his wife, Vickey; sons, Blake and his wife Robyn of Omaha, NE, Blaine and his wife Tricia of Fort Dodge; father, Alvin Messerly of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Jessica, Mason, Lexie and Chase; sister Diane Dencklau of Fort Dodge; brother Bruce of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris; and a granddaughter, Brianna.

Brian H. Messerly was born November 4, 1943 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He attended school in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High. Shortly after his education he managed a Standard Gas Station on the west side of Fort Dodge. On July 17, 1966 he was united in marriage to Vickey Nelson at the R.L.D.S. Church in Fort Dodge and they made their home in Fort Dodge. In the early 1970's Brian began working at Park Electric in Webster City, and later at Essinger Electric, until 1976 when he established Messerly Electric. In 2001, Brian retired due to ill health. In his younger years, he was very active in 4-H, he loved to fish, bowl, and visit Casinos. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, and having coffee with his buddies. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Brian will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
