Southwest Times Record, Fort Smith, ArkansasOpal Marie Summy, 88, of Fort Smith entered into rest Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Dows, Iowa, the daughter of the late Ervin and Mary Rubendall. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Smith for 53 years, a member of Golden Eagles Camping Club, and she was very devoted to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen J. Summy; a son, Keith R. Summy; and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Dixon of Fort Smith; a son, Gordon J. Summy of Moline, Ill.; two grandchildren, Derek and Tammy Dixon and Jill and David Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Amber and Gracie Dixon; and her extended family, Nhung Nguyen and family and Bach and Mai Nguyen and family.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Fort Smith, officiated by the Rev. Dale Thompson, with interment at Roselawn Cemetery of Fort Smith. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Highway, Fort Smith. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Fort Smith, 1400 Grand Avenue, Fort Smith, AR.
