Ackley, Iowa - Shirley Hackbarth, age 83, of Ackley, formerly of Dows, died Friday (Feb. 12, 2010) at Presbyterian Village Care Center in Ackley. Funeral services for Shirley Hackbarth will be held at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 16, at Morgan United Methodist Church near Dows. Pastor Erling Schultz will officiate. Burial will take place in the Morgan church cemetery. Visitation for Shirley Hackbarth will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Dugger Funeral Home, 100 North Lee St. in Dows, is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Hackbarth, age 83, of Ackley, formerly of Dows passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 at the Presbyterian Village Care Center in Ackley. Funeral services for Shirley Hackbarth were held at 10:30 a.m. February 16, 2010 at the Morgan United Methodist Church near Dows. Pastor Erling Schultz will officiate. Shirley, the daughter of John and Esther (Knoll) Hackbarth, was born October 12, 1926 near Dows. She grew up in the Dows area where she attended schools. Shirley graduated from Dows High School. Shirley was a lifelong resident of the Dows area. She cared for and ran errands for elderly friends throughout her life. Shirley became a resident of the Presbyterian Village in Ackley in 1996. Shirley was a lifelong member of the Morgan United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. Shirley is survived by several cousins, numerous extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
