Mrs. Kneedy Dies at 89

Mrs. Grace Kneedy, 89, a lifelong resident of Webster City, died Monday afternoon at the Hillcrest Nursing Home where she had been residing the past two months. She had been in failing health since January, 1968. Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. thursday at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Marvin E. Brewer officiating. burial will be made in Graceland Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral Home until 9:30 A.M. Thursday when it will be taken to the church.

Grace Mabel Johnson, daughter of Herbert and Amanda Johnson was born Jan 10, 1879, at Webster City and attended the Webster City schools. she was graduated with the class of 1899 in which there were 21 members. Following her graduation, she was employed at a millinery store operated by her aunt, the late Amanda Johnson. She was united in marriage in 1903 to the Rev. E. E. Kneedy who served as a pastor of the church of Christ in Webster City in 1900-1901. Except for a brief period when they resided in South Dakota and Des Moines, the family has always made their home in Webster City. She is survived by her one son, Robert Kneedy of West Covina, Calif.; three grandaughters, Kristin, Kara and Laura Kneedy, all of West Covina; one step-son Claire Kneedy of Watertown, South Dakota and one step-grandson, James Kneedy. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter who died in infancy and one son, Herbert Kneedy. She was a charter member of the Webster City Church of Christ being baptized in the Boone River in 1892 following an evangelistic meeting held on the central school grounds. She was especially honored last year at the 75th anniversary of the church as a charter member of the congregation. Mrs. Kneedy was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Union Veterans.
