CLEAR LAKE, Iowa - Mary Jane Huntington, 76, 201 N. 35th St., Clear Lake, died Sunday (Jan. 3, 2010) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday Jan. 7, 2010, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 Second Ave. N., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Diana Hoover officiating. Inurnment will be at a later time at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. Clear Lake and then one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Clear Lake Public Library, Hospice of North Iowa or Iowa State Chapter, P.E.O.
Mary Jane Arnold was born on May 23, 1933, in Ames, to Floyd J. and Mary H. (Condon) Arnold. She graduated from Ames High in 1951 and from Iowa State Teachers College in 1955. In 1956,she married Robert W. Huntington in Ames. Mary Jane taught music and English at Dows Community School, and English at Madrid Community School. She was an assistant to the children's librarian at the Clear Lake Public Library. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, 21st Century Club and Chapter LE, P.E.O. Mary Jane served on the Executive Board of Iowa State Chapter, P.E.O. for six years and as its president in 1991-92.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Robert Huntington, of Clear Lake; a son, Brad Huntington and his wife, Loree, of Thompson; a daughter, Martha Huntington, of Clear Lake; three grandchildren, Erin Renea, Blake Parker and Ashley Kate Huntington, of Thompson; a sister, Elizabeth and her husband Jim Graham, of Arvada, Colo.; a brother, Merle, of Newport News, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Arnold. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.
