IOWA FALLS - Betty L. Highley, 84, of Austin, Minn., formerly of Iowa Falls, died Friday, Jan. 8, at her home; services 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Iowa Falls, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dows; visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church; Linn's Funeral Homes, Iowa Falls Chapel, (641) 648-2569, is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Lucille Highley - January 8, 2010

Betty L. Highley, 84, of Austin, Minnesota, and formerly of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010, at her home under the care of her daughters. Funeral services for Betty L. Highley will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 13th at the First Christian Church, Iowa Falls. A time of visitation will be from 11:00 am to service time at the church Wednesday before funeral services. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Dows, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church, 221 Fischer Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Betty Lucille Foust was born July 29, 1925 on the family farm west of Dows, Iowa, the daughter of Archie Elias and Nora [Harbert] Foust. She graduated from the Dows, Iowa Community School with the class of 1943. On Easter Sunday, April 21, 1946, Betty was united in marriage to Franklin Arledge Highley at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born: Linda Lou, Helen Diane, and Debra Kay. Betty was the secretary of the First Christian Church, Iowa Falls for many years, where she was also a longtime member. She was also a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #188, Iowa Falls.

Betty L. Highley is survived by her husband: Franklin Highley of Austin, Minnesota; her daughters: Linda Hayne of Waukee, Iowa, Helen [Randall] Mickelson of Austin, Minnesota, Debra [Donald] Kemp of Urbandale, Iowa; seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one brother: Robert [Bonnie] Foust of Spencer, Iowa; and many loved nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Nora and Archie Foust; a son-in-law: Jeffrey Eaton; a sister: Helen [Dr. John] Mattern; and two brothers: Leonard [Charlotte] Foust, and John [Ione]Foust.
