WATERLOO< IA - Loren A. "Pete" Peterson, 75, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes following an extended illness. He was born Aug. 23, 1934, in Wright County, son of Arthur M. and Grada Roetman Peterson. He married Nancy-Anne Peterson in 1961. They later divorced. He married Marilyn Kostlan Staveley on Aug. 4, 1989, in Traer. He attended school in Clarion and graduated in 1952. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 512th Military Police Company from 1954 to 1956. He then attended college at the Pasadena City College and California State College where he graduated with a degree in business in 1961. Mr. Peterson was a self-employed licensed real estate appraiser since 1961. He was awarded the MAI designation in 1973. He attended Westminster Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Elks Club, American Legion, the Shriners, the Polka Club of Iowa, various real estate organizations and was a loyal supporter of the North Tama Redhawks.

Survived by: his wife; a son, L. Eric (Debbie) of Bartlesville, Okla.; two daughters, Deborah-Anne (Don) Gilbert of Bondurant and Kimberly-Anne (James) Thomas of Suffolk, Va.; two stepdaughters, Lori (Greg) Nolan of Dysart and Deanna (Nick) Kvidera of Traer; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Dottie) of Springville; and three sisters, Mary (Bill) Enockson of Sioux City, Eleanor (Jim) McCoy of Des Moines and Rachael McMurry of Canton, S.D. Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Jerry.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with private inurnment at a later date in Buckingham Cemetery. Public visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, and for an hour before service. Military honors by the United States Army. Memorials: may be directed to the family.
