George J. Patterson, 68, of 1244 E. 29th St., Des Moines, Iowa, died of cancer, April 2, 1993, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. The body was cremated and memorial services were at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 5 at Easton Place United Methodist Church, Des Moines, of which he was a member. Mr. Patterson was born in Galt, Iowa, May 30, 1924 to George and Nan Woodley Patterson. He was married February 25, 1946, to Margaret Smith of Des Moines. He lived in Des Moines 46 years and was a retired lieutenant with the Des Moines Fire Dept., an Army Veteran of World War II, a member of the Retired Firemen's Association, Iowa Association of Professional Firefighters, and the Baldwin Patterson American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Margaret, two sons, Steven of W. Des Moines and Craig of Des Moines, seven grandchildren, a brother, Boyd Patterson of Dows, and a sister, Lucy Green of Des Moines.
