Last Rites At Galt For George E. Patterson

Services were conducted on Friday, November 22, at 2:00 p.m. in the Galt Congregational Church for George E. Patterson, 77, who was killed in an auto accident which occurred November 17. The Rev. R. Lee Parcell, minister of the First Congregational Church of Clarion, officiated.

George Ellis Patterson, son of David G. and Lucy E. Day Patterson, was born September 23, 1880, on a farm near the town of Galt, Wright County, Iowa. All of his life was lived in that vicinity. On March 10, 1909, he was united in marriage to Nannie R. Woodley of Galt, Iowa. To this union six children were born--Olive E., Clayton D., Lucy, Boyd, Glen and George J. Preceding him in death were two children, Clayton at 6 months, and Glen Patterson, who gave his life for his country at Anzio Beach head in Italy.

Surviving him are the following: a brother, J.E. Patterson of Clear Lake, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Ogden of Mankato, Minn., and Mrs. Mae Poncin of Galt, Iowa; four children, Olive E. Patterson of Holland, Iowa, Mrs. Lucy Green of Des Moines, Boyd Patterson who resides on a farm near Dows, Iowa, and George J. Patterson, Des Moines, Iowa; seven granchildren and a host of other reltives and friends. George Ellis departed this life on November 17, 1957 at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 24 days.
