27 July 1846 -- 7 May 1928

Another of the pioneers of this community, William E. Tripp, passed away Monday. Mr. Tripp had been a resident of Wright county for nearly fifty years and has many friends who were sorrowed to learn of his passing.

William E. Tripp was born in Crawford county, Pa., July 27, 1846, where he lived until five years of age, when, with his mother, he moved to Menominee, Mich. At the age of twelve years he went to Green county, Wis., and at this early age began making his own way through life. He was married to Miss Lydia Anna Goff at Argyle, Wis., in 1874. They made their home at Argyle until the spring of 1881, when they immigrated to Wright county, Iowa, in which county Mr. Tripp made his home until May 7, 1928, when he passed to his reward. His wife preceded him in death in 1894. To this union were born nine children, four of whom passed away in early childhood, and five survive him: Mrs. Bertha Ziegler, of Henry, S. D.; John, Norris, Milton and Roy, all of Kanawha. All the children, one sister, Mrs. Hanna Bowman, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren mourn his loss.

In 1894, Mr. Tripp was baptized and joined the United Brethren church, at which time the services were held in a schoolhouse near his home. Funeral services were held at the Kanawha M. E. church, with Rev. Corwin Taylor in charge, Wednesday afternoon, interment being made at Belmond.
