Aaron Johnson

He was born on Sept. 10, 1925 in Kanawha, Iowa, the son of Ora and Opal (Trees) Johnson. He was raised with nine siblings on a farm in Iowa. As a young man he served in the Navy during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. On Aug. 6, 1960, he married Kay Grunwald at the "Little Brown Church in the Vale" in Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived in Minnetonka, where Mr. Johnson owned Dressel and Johnson Excavating until 1973. The couple then moved to Henning and became the owners of Sunset Beach Resort on West Battle Lake for seven years. He then retired to his home on West Battle Lake for 20 years and in 2000, the couple moved into Fergus Falls. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and R.V. traveling. His most precious times were spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The couple experienced many adventures, over the years, traveling in their RV. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his two special angels, Christopher and Cindy, his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Kay; four sons, Adrian (Pauline) of Henning, Dean (Rosemary) of Rogers, Ray of Elizabeth and Kevin (Debra) of Fergus Falls; two daughters, Diana Martyn of Sacramento, California and Deborah (Richard) Ratliff of Columbia Heights; one stepson, Roger (Elizabeth) Myklestad of Clitherall; seven sisters; two brothers; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
