Roberta Eleanor Lehman, the daughter of Arthur and Doris (Porter) Lehman, was born December 5, 1919, in Welcome, Minnesota. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. On June 15, 1944, Roberta was united in marriage with Eugene Stauffer. The couple made their home in Bancroft, Fox Lake and Welcome, Minnesota until moving to Eagle Grove in 1957. Eugene preceded her in death on November 17, 2003. Roberta moved to Avon, Indiana in June of 2004.

In Roberta's 25 year experience of teaching; she taught in Sleepy Eye, Ceylon, Goldfield and Eagle Grove, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church and served as a Stephen's minister for the Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was past president of the Iowa Media Education Association and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She had also served as director of the Eagle Grove Paddle Wheel Players. In addition to Roberta's professional life, she enjoyed spending time with family, working in her church, playing bridge and wintering in Arizona. Her love of reading continued throughout her life.

Roberta passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Avon, Indiana, at the age of 90 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene Stauffer and two sisters, Gertrude (Wally) Chance and Lucille (George) Borchardt. Survivors include her children: Susan (Gary) Hill, David (Kathy) Stauffer, Ann Haugland, Doris (Dan) Moore, Robert (Debbie) Stauffer, and Kristin (Jadell) Johnson; 19 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Chris Lang officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials will be directed to a scholarship fund in her name or to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.
