Georgiana (Kaskadden) Sullivan passed away on May 22, 2009 at the age of 68. She was known to many as "George." At the time of her death, she lived in Chandler, AZ. She died peacefully at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, AZ due to complications from breast cancer.
George was born May 31, 1940 in Waterloo, IA to her parents Al and Jane Kaskadden. She was the younger sister to Nancy (Ray) Nissen. She was married Dec. 17, 1961 to John "Sully" Sullivan in Oelwein. She spent the first five years of her married life living in Iowa Falls before moving to Indianola in 1966. In 1998, George and John transitioned to retirement on Sun Valley Lake near Creston. After graduating in 1958 from Oelwein High School (IA), George continues her education at the State College of Iowa (University of Northern Iowa), where she graduated in May 1962 with a degree in education. While teaching, she earned a Masters of Education from Drake University in 1981. George enjoyed a career as a Middle School English teacher for 30 years spending her first four years in Popejoy, IA and 26 years in Indianola. She held many leadership positions during her teaching career, which allowed her to positively impact many phases of the lives of hundreds of young people.
She is survived by her husband, John; her sons Michael (Colleen) and Joel (Aileen); and by the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Deirdre (13), Lane (6), and Leo ( 1); as well as her sister, Nancy (Ray) and her two nephews and niece.
