MESA, Ariz. — Harley C. Miller Jr., 84 years, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at the Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa following an extensive illness at his home. He was born June 7, 1925, to Harley C. and Cleola P. Miller in Belmond. His survivors include his wife, Darlene, daughter, Sandra Dutmers (husband, Earl and sons, Jeff, Justin and Jason Dutmers), son Steven Miller (wife, Celeste and daughters, Destiny Webster, Charity Miller, Bridget Miller, and Ariel Rondeau), seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one surviving brother, Robert Carson Miller. Harley, a veteran of World War II, served in the United States Marine Corps for four years with a 34-month time period in the Pacific participating in six campaigns. After the military, Harley married and worked in the automotive industry in both Iowa and Arizona taking pride in serving his customers. He fondly would take the time to go golfing, hunting and fishing as opportunities came. His community commitment involved participation as a Shriner and a member of the Scottish rite beginning in 1975, and as a past president of the Lions Club in Iowa.

Graveside services will be Friday, Jan. 22, in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Cave Creek, Ariz., beginning at 11 a.m. with Dr. Kassebaum from Victory Lutheran Church in Mesa officiating. Mountain View Funeral Home located at 7900 E. Main St, Mesa, Ariz., 85207 is in charge of the arrangements.
