HUBERT SAXTON RITES TUESDAY

Hubert E. Saxton, 71, of 1803 Third Ave., Grinnell, Iowa died early Saturday, Oct. 15, 1983 at Grinnell General Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marcus E. Reitz officiating. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials in Mr. Saxton's name may be made to the church and left at the Smith Funeral Home, where friends may call.

The son of Earl and Mabel Apland Saxton, he was born March 30, 1912, at Hardy, Iowa. He attended the Hardy-Renwick schools. On Feb. 10, 1934, he was married to Helene Vought at Hardy. The couple lived in the Hardy area, coming to Grinnell in 1952 where Mr. Saxton was employed at Grinnell Feed and Grain. He was active in St. John's Lutheran Church, having served with the church's men's organization and the building committee.

Survivors include his wife, Helene; four daughters, Sandra Armstrong and Marilyn Bent, both of Des Moines, Janelle Press of West Des Moines and Jolene Fredregill of Zearing; nine grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Saxton of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.
