Jennifer J. (Amosson) Axne, 50, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Eagle Grove, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Chris Lang and Pastor John Nett officiating. Visitation is Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Jennifer Joy Amosson, the daughter of Edwin B. and Charlotte I. (Pletcher) Amosson, was born September 3, 1959, in Clarion, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Clarion, graduating Clarion High School in 1977.

Jennifer married Roger Slater on June 24, 1983, in Elk Point, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove where they raised three children: Amanda, Jonathan and Rachel. In 2001, Jennifer married Hal Axne in Fort Dodge.

Jennifer enjoyed a number of arts and crafts, singing, writing – she even helped write a Christian Newsletter and baking – which at one time included having a cake baking business in her home. Her true joy came from being a mother – she had a great love for her children and grandchildren. Jennifer loved her Lord, Jesus Christ and was blessed to have the opportunity to worship with many congregations in various churches.

Jennifer passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, at the age of 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Charlotte and brother, Edwin A. Amosson. Survivors include her daughter, Amanda Burnell of Eagle Grove; son, Jonathan Slater and wife Rebekah of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter, Rachel Behrens and husband Paul of Fort Dodge and five grandchildren: Elizabeth (11), Kristen (10), Michael (4), and twins Allison and Ashlee (7 months).

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Chris Lang and Pastor John Nett officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
