Estherville, IATroy Alan Montandon, the son of Monty and Sharon (Hartkopp) Montandon, was born October 19, 1969, in Estherville, Iowa and departed this life on Thursday, October 12, 2006, in Estherville at the age of 36 years old. He received his education in the Estherville schools graduating from Estherville High School in 1988. After completing his high school Troy attended Jackson Vocational College in Jackson, Minnesota. On January 25, 2000, he was united in marriage to Sara Miller in Estherville. Troy lived his entire life in Estherville and owned his own business, Troy's Repair and Wrecker Service. He also did snowplowing for various Estherville businesses and homeowners. In his leisure time he enjoyed camping, fishing, motorcycles, watching Dale Earnhardt Jr. race, and most importantly spending time with his family and children.
Left to cherish Troy's memory are his children, Justin, Zachary and Carissa; his parents, Sharon Montandon of Des Moines, Iowa; Monty Montandon and his wife, Julie of Estherville; sisters, Shelly Plough and her husband, Curt of Des Moines; Angie Montandon of Estherville; Grandma Arlene Montandon of Dows, Iowa; Grandpa, Marvin Hartkopp and his wife, Sally of Iowa Falls, Iowa; step-sister, Jenny Weir; and also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding Troy in death were his maternal grandmother, Betty (Hartkopp) Johansen; paternal grandfather, Harold Montandon; and step-brother, Brent Weir.
