Mason City, IA - Margie I. Waddingham, 96, of 907 West Congress, St. Nora Springs, died Friday (Dec. 18, 2009) at the Nora Springs Care Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 21, at the First United Methodist Church, 202 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with Pastor Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday, Dec. 21, at the church. Margie was born on July 26, 1913, in Garner, the daughter of Andreas and Sena (Hansen) Andreasen. She attended Meservey High School. On Dec. 18, 1933, Margie married Roy Waddingham in Klemme. To this union two daughters were born. Margie was a farmwife, helping her husband on the farm, taking care of chickens, gardening and canning. In the early 1970s, Margie and Roy moved to town, where she worked for a short while in the kitchen at the Nora Springs Care Center and made drapes for Sears. Margie enjoyed crocheting, making crafts, fishing and traveling with Roy. She also enjoyed spending the last fifteen winters in Texas, and playing cards. She was known for always having pie for lunch, and for making wonderful pies herself. Margie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nora Springs.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Larry) Gelner, Charles City and Janice (Duane) Colby, Lake Mills; nine grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; her sister Leotta Aten, Bloomsburg, Pa.; her sister-in-law Lucille Kuhlers, Forest City, Stella Madsen, Britt and Irene Waddingham, Klemme; and numerous nieces and nephews. Margie was preceded in death by her husband; siblings Marvin Andreasen, Avis Counsell, Verna Baker and Donald Andreasen. Funeral arrangements are with Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs.
