Marion Catherine Dewey
A graveside funeral service was held at the Tehachapi Public Cemetery - Eastside for Marion Catherine Dewey, 94, who passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on September 7 [1998]. Mrs. Dewey was born to her parents Arthur Vincent and Flora A. Patton in Clarion, Iowa April 16, 1904. She was married to Lynn James Dewey on October 30, 1925 in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was a long-time resident of Tehachapi having lived here the last 40 years. Mrs. Dewey was a lovely lady in every respect. She was one who thoroughly enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Over the years she contributed hundreds of items which she lovingly knitted for orphans to a mission organization. These garments were mailed to Hawaii and dispersed from there wherever there was a real need for assistance in a variety of areas of the world.

Mrs. Dewey is survived by her sons, Jim Dewey and his wife, Joyce of Bakersfield, David Dewey and his wife, Barbara of Fresno; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brother, John Herren of Windom, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Dewey in 1980, two sons, Leland in 1941 and Allan on V.J. Day 1945. The Reverend Richard Burdine of Community Congregational Church officiated at the service. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
