Last Summons Came to Syracuse Man In Omaha Hospital

Harvey Henry Niebuhr, passed away peacefully at the University hospital in Omaha, Saturday morning, July 22, 1933, at 7:30 a.m. where he had been taken by Dr. Loder on Wednesday afternoon, July 19th for consultation and examination. He had become ill a week before, but not seriously until the day preceding his death. Every medical aid possible to employ was used but human skill could not determine the cause of his death. It is thought that possibly he may have received some sort of injury at a time when he came in contact with a high powered electric light line and received a bad fall several years ago, that in the course of time developed into unknown symptoms that helped hurry his death.

Harvey Henry Niebuhr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Niebuhr was born near Syracuse on December 21, 1904. Later the family moved to Syracuse where he grew into young manhood. He was a young man who had won the high respect and regard of the people among whom he lived and his passing therefore is deeply mourned and his sudden taking was a great shock. He was a faithful member of the First Lutheran church of Syracuse in which faith he was baptised and confirmed on March 24, 1918. On October 23, 1924 he was united in marriage to Miss Vera Trank of Cook, Nebraska at Clarinda, Iowa, and to this happy union one daughter, Goldene, was born. For some time they made their home in Syracuse where he was employed by the Syracuse Village as engineer at the light plant. Here as everywhere else he was a faithful and honest worker and did his duty well and and there were no complaints about Harvey Niebuhr's ability. He also served in the services of engineer at Blue Springs, Nebr., and Clarion, Iowa.

He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife and young daughter, Goldene; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Niebuhr; one sister, Lillian, all of Syracuse; two brothers, Albert and John, of Gurley, Nebraska; a number of relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at Tonsings Chapel at 1:30, Monday afternoon and at the First Lutheran church at 2:30 with his pastor, W. Lobsien, in charge. The funeral was largely attended by friends and neighbors and there were many beautiful floral tributes. Burial took place in Park Hill Cemetery. The First Lutheran church choir furnished the music.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Lea Niebuhr, of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. John and Anna and Dick Niebuhr, of Hallam; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Siebert, of Havelock; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Ingersoll and son, Eldred, of Auburn; Mrs. A.M. Ingersoll and Mr. and Mrs. Trank, of Cook; Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Mr. and Mrs. John Niebuhr and families, of Gurley, Nebraska.
