IOWA FALLS—Opal Norris, 87, of Iowa Falls, died on Friday, May 11, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Memorial services were held on Monday, May 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Popejoy. The Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Opal B. Norris, was born on February 21, 1920 at Iowa Falls, the daughter of Henry and Carrie (Rassmusson) Kline. She received her education in Popejoy, graduating from the Popejoy High School with the class of 1937, and attended Ellsworth College. Opal taught school at Mayesville, Mallory and Lee Center. She later worked for Ellsworth Hospital for more than 19 years, retiring in 1995. Opal married George Norris in March of 1946 at Waterloo. The couple later divorced. Opal was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ruth Circle, Methodist Quilters and Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Norris of Davenport and Karen Brocksmith and husband, Brad of Des Moines; son, Michael Norris and wife, Dawn of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Lynn Rohloff, Steven Norris and Kristi Brocksmith; great-grandchildren, FayLynn, KayLee and Carli Brocksmith, Oliver and Zoey Norris and Natalie Rohloff; and two brothers, Ray Kline and wife, Carmel of Iowa Falls and Harry Kline of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Donald, Kenneth, Willard and Marvin; and four sisters, Mable Ladd, Gladys Palo, Emma Davison and Viola Colberg.
