Shirley D. Jackson, age 64, of Council Bluffs, passed away November 16, 2009 at the Cancer Institute of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma after a long battle with cancer. She was born October 13, 1945 in Columbus, N.D. to the late Clarence and Tilda (Haarstad) Holter. She married Reverend Paul Jackson on November 26, 1965 in Powers Lake, N.D. They were blessed with three children, Denise, Monica and Paul Timothy. The Jackson's made their home in Cedar Rapids, Eagle Grove and Maquoketa before moving to Council Bluffs in 1986. Shirley was a tax preparer for H&R Block and currently was a loan service specialist at Peoples National Bank. She was a member of El Bethel Assembly of God Church; was the pianist/organist; Sunday school teacher and bookkeeper. Shirley was a member of the women's ministry and missionettes for the Assembly.

Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Duane Holter; and brother-in-law, Arnold Tandberg. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Rev. Paul Jackson; daughters, Denise (Jerry) Russell, Monica (Donald) Masterson all of Council Bluffs; son, Paul Timothy (Melanie) Jackson of Hastings, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; sister, Marlis Tandberg of Kent, Washington; brother, Mervin (Phyllis) Holter of Grafton, N.D.; sister-in-law, Ruth Holter of Powers Lake. Visitation with the family, Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service, Saturday, 10 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 3320 Harry Langdon Blvd. Rev. Norman Tosten will officiate. Interment Garner Township Cemetery with a lunch following at First Assembly of God Church. Contributions may be made to the Shirley Jackson Memorial Fund, c/o Peoples National Bank.
