Marilyn J. Vale, 73, 209 N Broadway, Toledo, was born on April 25, 1924 in Toledo, the daughter of James A. and Henrietta Jones Ritts and died on June 17, 1997 in Park Forest, IL. She gradated from Toledo High School with the class of 1942 and Nursing Training from Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown in 1945. On October 4, 1947 she was united in marriage to Nicholas J. Vale in Tama. They made their home in Toledo. Marilyn worked as a naval nursing cadet in 1945 at Samson, N.Y., a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids and Steele Memorial Hospital in Belmond. After raising her family she worked as an office nurse for Dr. Charles Maplethorpe of Toledo and Dr. Barbieri of Garwin. From 1966-1988 she worked for Tama Co. Health Services, retiring as the administrator which she had been the previous seven years. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church,Order of the Eastern Star and PEO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two brothers Rolland and Robert and a nephew Larry Ritts. She is survived by her two daughters Catherine L. Van Eycke, Hanover Park, IL., and Susan E. Curtis (Gerry), Park Forest, IL.; two grandsons, Andy and Brian Van Eycke, Hanover Park, IL, one step grandson Gerald (Kathy) Curtis, Matteson, IL., three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Ritts, El Cajon, CA., Mel Vale, Stokie, IL., and Georgia Vale, Mundelein, IL. along with many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
