Salvador Garcia Calderon, the son of Octaviano and Elena (Garcia) Calderon, was born August 31, 1924, in Santa Barbara, California He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1942 and served in the ROTC. From 1943 to 1946, Salvador served his country during W.W.II, in the United States Army. On March 23, 1946, Salvador was united in marriage with Martha M. Medina in Los Angeles, CA. The couple made their home in Los Angeles until 1958, when they moved to La Mirada, where they owned and operated an upholstery business. In April of 2008, they moved to Eagle Grove.

Salvador passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009, at his home in Eagle Grove at the age of 85 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elvira; son, Bruce; three brothers and a sister. Salvador is survived by his wife, Martha M. Calderon of Eagle Grove; son, Salvador Calderon, Jr. of Eagle Grove; daughters, Virginia Calderon of Hesperia, CA and Sandra Calderon Anderson of Eagle Grove; 10 grandchildren: Angelo, Salina, Moses, Mario, Lisa, Scarlet, Adriana, Anthony, Francisco and Gabriel; 4 great-grandchildren: Alena, Raymond, Hannah and James and a brother, Manuel Calderon.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove with Pastor Chris Lang officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
