FORT WORTH - Howard L. Warman, 86, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at University United Methodist Church with a reception to follow. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: open.
Howard L. Warman was born in Iowa in 1921 and graduated from Popejoy High School in Iowa . He served in World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Division, serving in the Pacific campaign and served in the initial occupation and administration of Japan in Nagasaki, Japan. Upon return from the war in California, he moved to Dallas and started his career in the aircraft industry as a tool and die maker. In Dallas, he met his wife, Mildred Rice, and they were married at Oak Cliff Methodist Church in 1949. Mildred and Howard celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1999. He had a distinguished 35-year career with the Graybar Electric Co., starting in Dallas, and included postings in El Paso, Carlsbad, N.M., Odessa, Lubbock and Fort Worth. He was honored with many awards at Graybar, including top district salesman. Howard was active with his church in many ways, including being an adult sponsor of youth groups while his children and grandchildren were growing up. In retirement, he continued his church activities at University United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, where he was a member of the Clarke Class and "The Biscuit Man" for Methodist Men's breakfasts. He was a regular driver for the church bus field trips and service projects and was recognized by the church's Super Adults Group (president 1993) for his service from 1982-1999. Howard had a passion for family life, apples, golf and gardening and was a ground marshal for the Colonial Golf Tournament for many years.
Howard was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Able of Westville, Okla. Survivors: Wife, Mildred Rice Warman of Fort Worth; his sister, Mary Simonitsch of Endeavor Wis.; his children, Cindy Crouse, James Warman, Debbie Warman and Lisa Rodriguez; his grandchildren, Robert, Richard and Ryan Warman, Tony and Cindy Rodriguez and Stephanie Cortez; and his great-grandchildren, Ivy De Luna and Melanie, Jason Jr. and Izaac Cortez.
