John A. Tesdahl, son of Andrew and Ragnhild Stenson Tesdahl, was born in Story County on August 14, 1883, and passed away suddenly at Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge on Feb. 18, 1952, having reached the age of 68 years, 6 months and 4 days.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Story County. For a few years the family lived in Eagle Grove, and later moved to their farm in Norway township. On Feb. 27, 1904 he was united in marriage to Ragnhild J. Shurson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Norway township. To this union, seven children were born. They made their home in Lake township until 1937 at which time they moved to the farm southeast of Clarion. He has farmed most of his life in Wright county.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1942, and also one sister, Mrs. Inga Schriber. One granddaughter, Charlene Marie Tesdahl also preceded him in death.
He is survived by seven children; Alma, now Mrs. George Christensen of Eagle Grove; Dena, Mrs. Fred Hanson of Britt; Ruth, Mrs. Mayer Skogoboe of Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Edith Sayers of Humboldt; Gladys, Mrs. Wayne Sharp of Kansas City, Mo.; June, Mrs. Ed Hanson of Omaha, Neb.; and Newman Tesdahl of Austin, Minn. Also, Four brothers, Ed and Lewis of Kanawha; Henry and Severt of Clarion. Five sisters, Mrs. Osmond Veiland of Blue Earth, Minn.; Mrs. Roy Brownell of Battle Creek, Mich.; Mrs. Tillie Evans of Kanawha; Mrs. Hilda Stenson of Chicago and Carrie Tesdahl of Cherokee.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 21 at Wilson chapel at 1 p.m. and the First Lutheran church, Clarion at 2 p.m., Rev. W.G. Smedsrud officiating. Interment was held on the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.
