December 8, 1996Howard M. Cook, 86, of 615 N. First St., Rockwell, Iowa died Thursday (Dec. 5, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Rockwell United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Dodge. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Fullerton Funeral Home, Rockwell. Those planning on an expression of sympathy may wish to make donations to the Rockwell United Methodist Church's building fund.
Howard was born on Dec. 24, 1909, on a farm south of Kanawha. He was the youngest son of George and Martina (Ellingston) Cook. Howard was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie Scace on Nov. 1, 1934, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in Primghar until 1940 when they moved to Cerro Gordo County. In 1948, they moved to Rockwell. He farmed most of his life, but was known for caring for his family and love for his wife, Dorothy, who preceded him in death on April 19, 1993. He was one of the few remaining original members of the Lions Club in Rockwell and was a board member of the ASC committee. He also loved to fish.
Howard is survived by his three children, one daughter, Debra Jean (Cook) and her husband, Dennis Scholl, of Clive; two sons, Thomas Howard Cook, of Rockwell, and Dennis J. and his wife, Debra Cook, of Cambridge, Mass. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Cohrs, Todd Cook, Chad Cook, Kyle Cook, Randy Cook, Curtis Cook, Theresa Wyatt, Anita Subbert, Beth Gibbons and Tena Scholl; and 12 beautiful great-grandchildren. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Ottis, Otto and Clarence; and one sister, Anita.
