H. McComas, 82, Dows Barber, Dies

DOWS—Harry McComas, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, at his home here. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Erickson funeral home with Rev. R. A. Brough officiating. Burial was at Hampton with Masonic rites. Mr. McComas was a barber in Dows for more than 50 years. He was born at Adel in 1874. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin (June) Leader, Des Moines; a brother, Rev. James McComas, and a sister, Bernice Elliott, Inglewood, Calif. Mr. McComas was born Aug. 2, 1874, at Adel. He attended public school at Adel and Washington, and was graduated from high school at Traer. He began working at the barber trade soon after his graduation from high school and located in Dows in 1901, continuing until his retirement seven years ago. He was united in marriage to Lillian Cobble Dec. 22, 1902.
