ALGONA - Lois Marie Strohman peacefully passed into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at her home in Algona. Lois was born on April 22, 1934, in Clarion, Iowa. She was the daughter of Roy Edward Lewis Wilson and Bertha Marie (Martin) Wilson. Lois graduated from Clarion High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce Degree from the University of Iowa. Lois met her husband LeRoy I. Strohman of Waterloo, Iowa, while attending the University of Iowa. They were united in marriage on June 9, 1957, in Clarion. Their marriage was blest with three sons.

Lois was active in the communities where she lived. While at University of Iowa, she was an officer in the university student council. She taught business education for three years at West Branch High School in West Branch, Iowa, and ten years at Bishop Garrigan High School in Algona, Iowa. She particularly cherished the years she spent at Bishop Garrigan High. She served in Algona as an officer in numerous civic and Christian organizations. She was the owner and breeder of champion West Highland White Terriers. Lois was a member of the Algona Evangelical Free Church where she taught Sunday school. At age 36 she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and since that time has made her life focus serving the Lord. Her faithful Bible study, teaching, and prayer life has been an inspiration to those close to her. Her commitment to her faith has most significantly been manifest in her devotion to her husband and sons.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish Lois' memory are her husband of 52 years LeRoy and three children, William (Dara) of Algona; John (Sarah) of Pierre, South Dakota and David (Anleah) of Mesa, Arizona; six grandchildren and a grandson-in-law. Lois was a caring, generous, and loving person. She was the inspiration, love and strength of her family. Lois will leave an indelible mark upon both her friends and family forever.

Service is 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, at Evangelical Free Church, Algona. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Algona. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 23, 2009 from 4:00 8:00 PM at Garry Roberts Murphy Schaaf Funeral Home in Algona.
