Carroll Edward Hilpipre

Carroll was born on January 24, 1928 in Clarion, Iowa and passed away in a Porterville, California Hospital on August 3, 2009 after a long illness. After graduating from Clarion High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. After leaving the military he lived in the Bay area and later in San Jose for several years.

Carroll was a loving father to his three children, Michael Hilpipre of San Jose, Debbie Cooper of Gilroy, and Linda Okamoto of Mt. View, and also stepfather to Stephen and Karen Snell. Carroll is also survived by five grandchildren; Kevin Cooper, Amanda Cooper, Jessica Cooper, Jason Okamoto & Travis Okamoto & two great-grandchildren. Carroll & Naomi have been best friends for 59 years and were married in September 1976 & moved to Atwater after retiring in 1994. He was a resident of Merced County for the last 15 years.Carroll was a kind & loving person to all and will be missed tremendously by family & friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father and three brothers. He is survived by his wife Naomi Hilpipre, brother, Merv Hilpipre (La Rue) & several nieces & nephews. Carroll is a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Merced and of the local chapter of the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central Presbyterian Church. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at The Central Presbyterian Church located at 1920 Canal in Merced, with Dr. Henry Greene officiating.
