ALEXANDER — Funeral Services for Alma J. Pals, 84, of Alexander, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander United Methodist Church in Alexander, with Pastor Kalen Fristad officiating. Burial will take place in the Alexander Cemetery in Alexander. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.

Alma J. Pals, 84, of Alexander, passed away Sunday (Jan. 13, 2008) at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell. She was born on May 8, 1923, in Alexander, Iowa, to Louis and Dora (Larsen) Bell. Alma graduated from Alexander High School in Alexander, Iowa. She was married on Nov. 30, 1942, in Baltimore, Md., to Willie Pals. She was a member of Alexander United Methodist Church in Alexander. She was also a member of the Kitchen Klatter Band, Alexander Cemetery Society and United Methodist Women. Alma loved to read, embroidery, traveling and camping. She was a big Hawkeye fan, but one of her biggest joys in life was making chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Don and wife, Nina Pals, of Mason City; daughter, Judy and husband, Gene Pastour, of Johnston; grandson, Troy and wife, Nichi Pals, of Alexander; grandson, Tony and wife, Tami Pals, of Mason City; grandson, Shane and wife, Kara Pastour, of Ankeny; and granddaughter, Angela Pastour, of West Des Moines; great-grandchildren, Tyler Pals, Cassidy Pals, Tory Pals, Cole Pals, and Mason Pals; sister, Inez Ginapp, of Belmond; sister, Dorothy Poland, of Rockwell; sister, LaVonne Card of Alexander. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Eldon Bell; sister Erma Neal; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Elizabeth and Annah Pals. Arrangements are with Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home.
