Lucreta Olden, 1909-2005

Lucreta Luchsinger Olden, 95, of Harrisburg passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at her home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at Nilson Funeral Home in Columbia with John Gillman officiating. She was born Nov. 24, 1909, in LuVerne, Iowa, to Christian Matthew Luchsinger and Elsie Bull Luchsinger. She was married Feb. 26, 1931, in Humboldt, Iowa, to Roscoe Clifford Olden, who died in 1984. They farmed in Humboldt County, Iowa, until moving to Missouri in 1954. She was an active partner with her husband in farming, raising livestock and conservation. Her priorities were family, church and friends. Her hobbies were music, sewing and handwork. During her lifetime, she made more than 100 bed quilts, baby quilts and lap robes, all given away.

She leaves one son, Dennis Olden and wife Verna of Onamia, Minn.; three daughters, Patricia Rowland and husband Lloyd of Harrisburg, Carolyn Larsen and husband Clayton of Humboldt and Kathleen Olden of Creve Coeur; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Vivian Friday of Renwick, Iowa. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kyle and Kenneth Luchsinger; an infant sister, Thelma; a sister, Alice Rummens; and a granddaughter, Francine Olden.
