Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, 1978, at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church, Leota, Mn., for John Edward Tinklenberg of Leota. The Rev. John Stempvoort officiated, and the music was provided by Mrs. Arnold Schaap, organist, and singing buy the congregation. Pallbearers were Al Ruiter, Pete Beukleman, Vernon Prins, Walt Bolluyt, Anthony Sas, and Jake Overbeek. Interment was in Leota Cemetery.
John Edward, son of Simon and Jennie Tinklenberg, was born on Aug. 11, 1897, at Wright County, Ia. On Aug. 21, 1928, he and Martha Kallemeyn were united in marriage, and they lived all their married life in the Edgerton and Leota communities. Following many years of being a blacksmith in Leota, he became a partner in a house moving company in which he remained active until the time of his death. On Sept. 29, 1978, he passed away at his home at the age of 81 years and 18 days. He is survived by his wife, Martha; two sons, Simon and Marvin of Leota; two daughters, JoAnn of Grand Rapids, Mi., and Jennie, Mrs. Ray Anderson of Luverne; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Martha, Mrs. John Ten Cate of Edgerton. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary, and six brothers.
