Mason City Globe Gazette- IowaKANAWHA, IA - Henry A. Christians, 78, of Kanawha, passed away Friday (Aug. 17, 2001) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Wright Christian Reformed Church near Kanawha with the Rev. Chuck Walton officiating. Burial will take place in the Wright Christian Reformed Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, Kanawha. Memorials may be directed to the Kanawha Christian School.
Henry, the son of Al and Abbie Reikens Christians, was born Jan. 31, 1923, on the family farm near Kanawha. He grew up south of Kanawha where he attended country school Norway 3. Henry was united in marriage to Evelyn DeBoer on Jan. 26, 1949, in Hollandale, Minn. The couple made their home south of Kanawha where they raised their family. Henry farmed his entire life in the area. He was a member of the Wright Christian Reformed Church. Henry is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Lavaun Wind and her husband, Ken, of Clear Lake; four sons, Stu and his wife, Jean, of Marshalltown, David and his wife, Donna, of Loveland, Colo., Bruce and his wife, Stephanie, of Northfield, Minn., and Craig and his wife, Arlys, of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Kevin, Michelle, Abby, Jessica, Brett, Jenna and Elliott; two sisters, Stella Baker, of Kanawha and Gladys Wessels, of Klemme; and numerous other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law and two nephews. Ewing Dugger Funeral Home.
