Karry Hatfield, 84, of Indianola died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at home. Services were July 7 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. Hatfield was born March 22, 1924, [in Meservey, Iowa] to Klaas and Maggie Gruis. She spent most of her life in Des Moines, moving to Indianola in 2005. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Orville Vandervort and her second husband, Paul Hatfield. Survivors include her son, Verlynn "Skip" Vandervort; daughter, Kathie Stogdill; stepson, Rodger Hatfield; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Teena Sandry of Belmond; and a brother, Jake Gruis of Apopka, Fla. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa, Knoxville office.
