BELMOND, IA - Beatrice H. Gaetzke, 76, of Belmond, passed away on Monday (May 12, 2003) at the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond. Funeral services for Beatrice H. Gaetzke will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond with Pastor Herm Gruis officiating. Burial will take place in the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation for Beatrice H. Gaetzke will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane S. in Belmond, and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Beatrice Hilda (Watermiller) Gaetzke was born on Jan. 31, 1927, at Belmond to parents George and Nettie (Gerdes) Watermiller. She attended Meservey schools, graduating in 1945. She then worked as a telephone operator and at various other jobs. On June 28, 1960, Beatrice was united in marriage with Lowell Gaetzke at the Meservey Reformed Church in Meservey. Beatrice was then a homemaker and she cared for her parents for 22 years. The couple moved to the McBurney Apartments in Belmond in 1986. Beatrice was a member of the Meservey Bethany Reformed Church. She enjoyed crafts and helping on various projects during the year, and she was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Beatrice is survived by a brother-in-law, Russell Gaetzke and his wife, Evelyn, of Meservey, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lowell, on April 28, 1997. Dugger Ewing Funeral Home.
