DUNCOMBE, IA-- Roger L. Dencklau, 68, of Duncombe, passed away September 8, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, in Mason City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, Colfax Township, Vincent, Iowa with the Rev. William Van Nostrand officiating. Interment will be held in Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Roger L. Dencklau, the son of Otto and Florence (Modler) Dencklau, was born on March 17, 1939 in Fort Dodge. He lived in the rural Vincent area where he attended country school and worked on the farm. Roger married Diane Messerly on November 15, 1959. The couple farmed in the Vincent and Duncombe area up to the time of his death. He was a member of the Vincent Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years. Roger was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Colfax Township, Vincent, for his entire life.
Roger is survived by his wife, Diane of Duncombe; his son Doyle of Fort Dodge; his brothers Glenn Dencklau of Fort Dodge and Willard (Rosie) Dencklau of Humboldt; sister Irene Lindsay of Sterling, IL; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his daughter Darla Dencklau; his brothers, Sonny, Clifford, Otto Jr., and Robert; and his sister Dorothy Maage. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
