Meagan Jo Hollingshead, 14, of 2047 Grande Ave. SE, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from injuries suffered in an accident. Services: 4 p.m. Sunday, Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, by Mary C. Taylor. Burial: Wyoming Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. Survivors include her parents, John and Kathy Hollingshead of Wyoming and Lori Hollingshead and Laura Taylor of Cedar Rapids; her brothers, Joshua Hollingshead of Denver, Colo., Nicholas Hollingshead of Wyoming, Brad Hollingshead of Cedar Rapids, Connor Hollingshead of Wyoming, Stephen Taylor of Green Bay, Wis., and Michael Taylor and Spencer Taylor, both of Cedar Rapids; a foster sister, Hannah; her maternal grandparents, Jim and Olive Anderton of Maquoketa; her paternal grandmother, Florence Hollingshead of Wyoming; and her maternal great-grandmother, Leona Anderton of Cape Girardeau, Mo. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Meagan was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Clayton Hollingshead; her maternal great-grandfather, James Anderton; her maternal great-grandparents, Hugh and Betty Boyington; and her paternal great-grandparents, Fred and Mae Hollingshead and Edward and Edna Harding.

Meagan was born, the daughter of John and Lori Anderton Hollingshead, on Oct. 13, 1988, in Clarion. She was a student at McKinley Middle School in Cedar Rapids, where she participated in soccer, track, swimming and chorus. She was a volunteer at Cottage Grove Place. Meagan loved animals and wanted to become a veterinarian. She was very creative and loved crafts, singing, and giving and shopping for others. Meagan was an amazing young lady, and was always thinking of others. Meagan was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial fund has been established in Meagan's memory.
