Alice L. Koval, 82, of 2580 Echo Hill Rd., Marion, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer and the Rev. Carol Sundberg. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Surviving to honor her memory are her husband of 43 years, Emil; two sons, John Koval (Jeannette Malake) of Marion and Robert (Susan) Kishiue-Koval of North Liberty; a grandson, Kaz Kishiue-Koval; two sisters, Lois Craig of Cedar Rapids and Ruth Ambinder of Timonium, Md.; a brother, Ray Frederick (Annice) of Marshalltown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Alice was born May 21, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of E. Frank and Ola Foster Frederick. She was united in marriage to Emil J. Koval on June 15, 1962, in Cedar Rapids. After graduation from Marion High School, Alice received a B.A. degree in elementary education from Iowa State Teachers College. She taught kindergarten in Clarion and Cedar Rapids, for several years, followed by 11 years employment at Collins Radio Co. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the church choir. She liked traveling, socializing and playing the piano. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1340 Third Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids.
