Story City, IA-- Clarence M. "Bud" Ober, 83, of Story City died of multiple myeloma Sunday at Bethany Manor there. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, of which he was a member. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lawn Hill Cemetery near Stanhope. Mr. Ober was born in Vincent, Iowa and had lived in Stanhope before moving to Ellsworth in 1975. He had lived in Story City five years. He was the retired owner of Bud's Clothing in Stanhope, an Army veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of Ellsworth American Legion. He had been active in the Stanhope community and was a former member of Stanhope Christian Church, a charter member of Stanhope Lions Club and a former member of Stanhope school board and Hamilton County Hospital Board.

He is survived by his wife, Jean two daughters, Jan Merrill of Des Moines and Leah Tyrrell of Lawrenceville, Ga. two sons, Steve of Cedar Falls and Jerry of Story City three stepsons, Jerry Pearson of Anamosa, Dick Pearson of Hinsdale, Ill., and Alan Pearson of Dubuque two sisters, Luella Doolittle and Charlotte Richey, both of Webster City two brothers, Donald Scott of Monroe City, Mo., and Raymond Scott of Fort Dodge, 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Homeward Hospice, Bethany Manor or Trinity Lutheran Church. Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City is handling arrangements.
