Gerald Allen "Buzz" Deibler, 75, of Marion, died Friday evening, July 10, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, with Chaplain Dorothy Gerr officiating. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the chapel.

Gerald Allen "Buzz" Deibler was born Jan. 25, 1934, to Loren Deibler and Mildred Remer Deibler in their Kanawha, Iowa home. He received his education and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1951. He enjoyed sports in high school. Buzz was a dedicated hard worker doing such jobs as working on the railroad and digging graves from 1950 to 1954. He also helped build the new Kanawha High School in 1955. In 1954, Buzz married Marilyn Dasch. To this union, four children were born: Rodney, Krista, Joni and Londa. In 1962, Buzz married Nellie Iverson. To this union, one child, Lori, was born. He also became a father to Nellie's daughters, Linda and Carma. In 1956, Buzz moved to Cedar Rapids and began his 36-year career with Iowa Electric Light and Power/Alliant. Buzz was a dedicated employee and worked as a lineman and line supervisor. He retired from Iowa Electric Light and Power in 1992.

Preceding Buzz in death were his wife, Nellie, in 2004; parents; sister, Mary Lou Deibler; and his beloved pets, Buttons and Ching. Survivors include his children, Rodney Deibler of Ankeny, Krista (Gary) Day of North Branch, Minn., Joni (Todd) Mostad of Shoreview, Minn., Londa Fabio of Forest Lake, Minn., Lori (RJ) Warner of Mount Vernon, Linda Peterson of New London and Carma Ernster of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Derek Deibler of Clive, Nathan Day of North Branch, Minn., Josie Bayers of Little Canada, Minn., Jamie (Kevin) Harrison of Roseville, Minn., Sam Mostad of Shoreview, Minn., Connor Fabio of Forest Lake, Minn., Lance Corporal Colton Warner of USMC of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif., Priscilla Warner of Mount Vernon, Lorisa Sievers, Stacy Sievers and Tracy Ledbetter, all of Mount Pleasant, Tina Krieger of New London and Heather William and Michael Ernster, both of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special niece, Beth Kavanaugh of Virginia Beach, Va.; brother, Bill Scott of Florida; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
