Darlene V. Yeakle, 77, of 212 Norma St. SW, died Monday, July 19, 2004, in her home after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Susan Detwiler will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 tonight and at the chapel after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Survivors include a son, Gary of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Maxine Kaiser of Cedar Rapids; an aunt, Velma Kacer of Cedar Rapids; a great-aunt, Donna Mittan of Blairstown; four grandchildren, Kristin, Kimberly, Denise and Travis; and five great-grandchildren, James, Kory, Dalton, Ryan and Anastasia. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald; and a brother, Bob.

Darlene was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Meservey, the daughter of Henry and Nina Bramsom Mittan. She married Louis W. Yeakle on June 1, 1945, in Portsmouth, Va. He died in 1991. Darlene was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, VFW Post 788 Auxiliary, and was a faithful member of the Eagles Club, where she was in charge of the Ladies Auxiliary Drill Team for many years. Darlene was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed time spent with her loving family and many friends. A memorial fund has been established in Darlene's name.
