CLEAR LAKE, IA - Carol J. Deike, 66, of 914 S. Eighth St., Clear Lake, died Wednesday (July 1, 2009) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at the Open Bible Church, 609 S. Eighth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Will Hunsaker officiating. Interment will be at Meservey Cemetery, Meservey. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army or Hospice of North Iowa.

Carol was born on Oct. 6, 1942, in Belmond, the daughter of Nealo and Nancy (Kamp) Watermiller. She graduated from Meservey High School in 1961. On April 5, 1963, Carol married Donald Deike at the First Reformed Church in Meservey. For the majority of her life, Carol was a housewife, caring for her children at home. She also was a custodian for the Open Bible Church for 13 years. In her later years she helped her husband, Don, at CL Tel. Carol's family brought her so much joy. Her dog, Molly, brought her much devotion and was a great companion. Carol also enjoyed riding around the countryside and around the lake. She loved her flowers and gardening and working along side Don at CL Tel for 13 years. Carol always enjoyed volunteering and teaching her monthly Bible study at the Oakwood Care Center.

She is survived by her husband, Donald, of Clear Lake; her two daughters, Roxanne (Glenn) Hasfjord of Clear Lake and Nancie (Ryan) Clark of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren, Alexander, Alyssa and Austin Hasfjord of Clear Lake, and Josiah, Jenna, Jadyn and Justin Clark, of Dallas, Texas; and her sister, Lois Watermiller. Carol was preceded in death by her parents. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.
