Mrs. Leola Mayvis Barkema Trowbridge, 84, of Jackson, Georgia died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Westbury Medical Care Home in Jackson. Mrs. Trowbridge was born January 6, 1924 in Klemme, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Hilko Barkema and Amanda Meints Barkema. Mrs. Trowbridge was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Griffin and was a retired nursing assistant in the nursing home industry.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Charles Garman of Jackson; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Judy Trowbridge of Blue Springs, MO; sisters and brother-in-law, Beulah Esk of Belmond, IA; Evelyn and Harlan DeGroote of IL; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Arlene Barkema of Clear Lake, IA; eight grandchildren, Gina and Mike Wells, Dave Martens, Russ and Katherine Garman, Wendy and Scotty Collins, Cliff and Michelle Fowler, Ryan Trowbridge, Dave and Rachel Ashlock, Melissa and Doug Winters; 17 great-grandchildren, Matt, Macie and Micah Wells, Tyler, Nick, Drew and Lexie Martens, Alice and Emily Garman, Courtney, Anna and Abby Collins, Avery and Graham Fowler, Ben, Blaton and Riley Winters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Leola Mayvis Barkema Trowbridge were held Sunday, November 2, 2008 from the Sherrell Memorial Chapel. Rev. Frank Winfrey officiated. The interment followed in the Jackson City Cemetery. The Sherrell, Wilson, Mangham Funeral Home of Jackson was in charge of arrangements.
