HARDY, IA - Vivian Jean Kitley was born on January 18, 1948, at Eagle Grove, Iowa to Ernest and Barbara Johnson Pergande. She graduated from the Boone Valley High School in 1966 and then earned her Bachelor's Degree from Buena Vista College through Iowa Central College in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Vivian was married to Dean Kitley on October 29, 1966 at the Renwick United Methodist Church. To this union, two wonderful children were born, Kevin in 1967 and Kelsey in 1969. They were later to be blessed with 5 beautiful grandchildren. Vivian was an active member of the Renwick United Methodist Church, where she was an organist for 45 years and served on many committees. She was a member of the U.M.W. and Cosmopolitan Club. She was the Middle School teacher at the CWL School form 1988-1995. Vivian also had an Embroidery business in her home. She was also co-owner of Tanks-A-Lok with her husband and brother-in-law. Vivian was also a project coordinator for ethanol plants in Goldfield, Shenandoah and Wesley, Iowa. Dean and Viv enjoyed spending their free time with each other, family and friends, be it attending grandchildrens' events, traveling, car races or just being home with their four-legged Zoe. She really loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all.

Vivian died suddenly at her home near Hardy, Iowa on Thursday, June 18, 2009. She was 61. She is survived by her husband, Dean, rural Hardy, Iowa her daughter, Kelsey Peart and husband, Tom, Fort Dodge, Iowa, her daughter-in-law, Jean Hoveland and husband, Gary, Kanawha, Iowa, granddaughters, Tiffany, Ashley and Kirsten Kitley and grandsons, Keaton and Kade Peart. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Ruth Kitley and her siblings, Bruce Pergande and wife, Linda, Webster City, Iowa, Rich Pergande and wife, Bonnie, Armstrong, Iowa, Kathy Christianson and husband, Dave, Valdosta, Georgia, Vicki Fortner, Humboldt, Iowa and Greg Pergande, Kenosha, Wisconsin. Vivian was preceded in death by her son, Kevin in 1997, her parents and father-in-law, Lyle.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Renwick United Methodist Church. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Renwick United Methodist Church, Renwick, with the Revs. Karen Dearchs and Dale Schoening officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Township Cemetery, rural Hardy.
