Frank Francis Fuss Jr., the only child of Frank F. Fuss, Sr and Anna (Wiggins) Fuss, was born November 12, 1926, in Estherville, Iowa. He died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at his home in Spirit Lake, Iowa, at the age of 80 years, five months and 19 days. He received his education in the Estherville and Goldfield schools and graduated from Estherville High School in 1945. He also attended Estherville Junior College. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany with the Army of Occupation. After his honorable discharge from military service he returned to the Estherville area. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad for a short time before going to work for Donovan Motors in Estherville. On January 13, 1951, Frank was united in marriage to Genevieve Hartman of Gruver, Iowa. They were married 36 years until her death on February 12, 1987. Their five children and extended family were the center of their lives. He worked for Donovan Motors for over thirty-five years as a bookkeeper and salesman, retiring in September of 1987. Genevieve died February 12, 1987. On February 27, 1988, he was united in marriage to Lois (Clark) Dunlavey in Lincoln, Nebraska. Frank and Lois continued to live in Estherville until January of 1995, when they moved into a home they built on Big Spirit Lake. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf in his spare time. He worked in the sideline chain gang at high school and college football games for many years. He also ran the time clock at basketball games for many years. When he was younger , he raced speed boats around the Midwest. He snowskied and waterskied into his seventies. He often bicycled around Spirit Lake several times a week when the weather was good. If there was daylight left in the day, Frank made use of it. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, VFW Post 3388 and the Elks Lodge all in Estherville.

Grateful for having shared Frank's life are his wife, Lois of Spirit Lake; children, Anne Bothe and her husband, Robert of Omaha, Nebraska; Rebecca Petersen and her husband, Roger of Graettinger; Jane Piper and her husband, Eric of Westwood Hills, Kansas; Michelle Fuss of Lenexa, Kansas; William Fuss and his wife, Christine of Overland Park, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Kate Schulz, Leigh and Meghan Bothe, Ben and Elizabeth Piper and Caroline, Sarah Jane and Joseph Fuss.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve and his parents. The family will be giving memorials to the Estherville Community School Foundation or the Lakes Regional Health Care Hospice.
