Funeral services for Mrs. M. R. Case, 85, former Evansville resident who died Thursday at her home in Belmond, Ia., were held here Saturday. She is survived by her son, one sister, Mrs. Clint Scofield of this city. When in Evansville, Mr. and Mrs. Case were proprietors of the Central House.

Mary E. Fellows was born at Chili, Monroe county, New York, April 15, 1841, and died at the home of her son, Frank Case, at Belmond, Iowa, April 16, 1925. When she was 14 years old, she moved with her parents to Centre, Wisconsin, where she lived until her marriage to M. R. Case, on December 31, 1857. To this union five children were born, three of whom died in infancy, and one son, Orrin, died in 1912. Mr. and Mrs. Case moved to Clinton, Wisconsin, and afterwards to Evansville, Wisconsin, where they lived until 1882, when they moved to Old Amsterdam, now Goodell, Iowa. In 1885 they moved to Belmond and had charge of the Kern House for a time. Afterwards they built the Case Hotel which they operated for some time. Mr. Case died in 1921 and Mrs. Case tried to keep up the home but she had to give it up on account of her health and since that time she had made her home with her son. Besides the one son, Frank Case, she leaves three grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and one sister. Funeral services were held at the home on Saturday afternoon, and were in charge of Rev. Leinbach, pastor of the Congregational church after which the body was laid by the side of her husband in Franklin Grove Cemetery.
