Olaf W. Tokheim was born on June 28, 1912 at Thor, Iowa to parents Edward and Martha (Tokheim) Tokheim. He was baptized and confirmed at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church of Thor, Iowa.

Olaf married Harriet C. Nelson at Mason City, Iowa on April 9, 1938. This union was blessed with three children: Roger L., Marilyn Ann and Gene Edward. Olaf and Harriet farmed in Tyro Township for many years. He was a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church where he was a past Trustee and Sunday School Teacher. Olaf and Harriet were both involved in the Tyro 4-H Club, and he was a Hunter Safety Instructor, Olaf loved the outdoors and especially loved hunting and fishing.

Olaf passed away on Saturday evening, March 13, 1999 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 14 days. He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Harriet of Clarkfield, and his children: Roger (and Carrie) Tokheim of Hastings, MN; Marilyn Ann Tokheim of Smithville, Ohio; and Gene (and Lucy) Tokheim of Dawson, MN and grandchildren: Rachel and Nathan Farver, Benjamin, Dan, Luke, Marshall and Samuel Tokheim. Olaf is also survived by sisters: Mildred Keen and Genevieve Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Edwin, Elmer, Alfred and Robert and sister: Ann Thompson.
