Death of Mrs. Martha Noon

Mrs. Martha Noon an aged resident of Tampico township and an old settler died at her home five miles southwest of Tampico Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. Death resulted from the infirmitives [sic] of old age and an attack of pneumonia with which she was taken about a week previous. She had been in poor health all winter. The funeral services will be held at the Methodist church in Tampico, Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock. There will be short services at the house but not public. Interment will be in the Tampico cemetery.

Martha Hughes was born at Nightcote, England, Oct. 8, 1830 where she spent her girlhood and was married to Chas. Noon in 1848. The couple came to America in 1874 and settled near Tampico which place has been their home since. She was a member of the English church and was a quite unassuming lady who had raised a large family and performed the duties of mother faithfully to her children. There were fourteen children born in the family, two of which are dead. Those that survive are: Thos. Noon of Tampico, Benjamin of Kansas, Martha Baiderson of Nebraska, Jane Miller of Iowa, Job Noon of Colorado, Caleb of Tennessee, Wm. Noon of Minnesota, Mary Curley of Clarion, Iowa and Anna Winkler of Prophetstown.
