Dorothy Jane Larsen, the daughter of Ross and Gertrude Louise (Turk) Matheson, was born November 25, 1927 in Clarion, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Clarion High School in 1945. Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert E. Larsen on May 5, 1948 in Clarion, Iowa. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the United Methodist Church and Rebecca Circle, served on many funeral dinners and baked several pies and rolls for church bake sales. She was also a member of a very active “Koffee Klatch” in and around Eagle Grove.

Dorothy passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Careage in Clarion, Iowa at the age of 81 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lois Lunde. Funeral services will be Friday, June 5, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Mike Agnew officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband Robert of Eagle Grove, daughter, Anita Hammer and husband Steve of Peachtree City, GA; son, Russell Larsen and wife Teresa of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Laura Hammer of Atlanta, GA, Melissa Lubbers and husband Nicholas of Gray, TN, Krystal Larsen and Chelsea Larsen of Sioux Falls; great granddaughters, Ally Lynn and Gabrielle Lubbers of Gray, TN; great grandson Preston Scott Schutz of Sioux Falls, SD and other relatives and many friends. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
